The older I get the more I enjoy the little things. I spend a lot of time outside in my garden as every new fruit that forms or flower that opens gives me a small hit of joy - I guess it's my version of a drug... Sadly I never really learnt how to beautifully arrange flowers but I love to collect interesting antique vessels to put my flowers in. When one is for sale on this site it will be filled with flowers from my garden - so try to ignore my styling fails and imagine your own fresh flowers in it.

Other little rituals that are a small highlight in my day include drinking tea or coffee from a unique cup - whether it is antique or handmade by a modern craftsperson depends on my mood but sipping from my favourite cups (especially first thing in the morning when I have the house to myself before everyone else gets up and the crazy busy-ness begins) is a pleasure I really look forward to. 

Years ago I started keeping the family cotton buds in an elegant sterling silver lidded jar, every time I reach for one I appreciate the craftsmanship of that little piece of history. So I guess those are some of the reasons I am drawn to the small things, the little luxuries that anyone can add to their day. Don't get me wrong, if funds were unlimited I would definitely live in a house with a library containing antique bookshelves and ladders to reach the highest volumes but that isn't my life, so for now I focus on the joy small pieces of the past bring me throughout every day.
