Pair of graduated sterling silver vases - Chester 1927
$349.00
This lovely pair of George V graduated sterling silver specimen vases, with baluster shaped bowls and tapering columns, were assayed in Chester in 1927. Like most silver vases they have loaded bases for stability. One has its green felt covering on the bottom while the other shows the plaster that provides that stability. It is only in the foot of the vases. They were produced by the firm Clark & Sewell and looking stunning together. They have some minor bumps consistent with age and use but they don't detract from their beauty. One foot has an area that has been knocked as it is a little flattened off rather than perfectly round. There a are a few minor knocks to the tapering columns. Please look closely at the photographs as they are an important part of the description.
I added a few flowers from my backyard to give a sense of scale. Interestingly, the aperture for the flowers is perfect to hold a standard candle so they could possibly be repurposed as candlesticks but you would want to fill them with sand or something else for additional stability.
