Shelley trio - pattern 8901
Shelley
$55.00
This Art Nouveau Shelley trio was designed between 1913 and 1915. Pink and blue flowers with green leaves are set in a border of garlands and organic Art Nouveau designs on a pure white ground. A highlight are the gold lozenge shapes together with hand enamelled raised turquoise centres. The cup is in the Gainsborough shape with elegantly sculpted handle. The plate and saucer centres and cup interior are decorated with a warm peachy/butterscotch ground. The border is repeated inside the cup bowl. The design is finished with a gilt coachline and gilt trimmed rims.
There are some minor scrapes to the peachy surface of the saucer and plate - teaspoons and cake forks, I imagine, but no chips, cracks or crazing. The cup interior appears slightly darker than the saucer or side plate.
This pretty Art Nouveau trio would display wonderfully in a country cottage, or on a shelf in a shabby chic interior, or be the perfect vessel for a relaxing cup of tea.
