Sterling silver sweetheart brooch - Birmingham 1900/01

Pearce & Thompson

$89.00

This lovely sweetheart brooch was made by the firm Pearce & Thompson in Birmingham in 1900/01 at the very end of the Victorian period. The silver bar is triangular in shape and displays a basket of flowers, evoking the symbolism of floriography with which a contemporary recipient would have been thoroughly familiar. I think the flowers may be daffodils, if so, they indicated regard and unequalled love. I believe the leaves around the edges are intended to be ivy, one of the best known symbols of everlasting love, fidelity and immortality. These tokens of love have a rich history and should be treasured.

The antique box and other antique items pictured are not included, but I hope to make some of these items available in the future.

Our jewellery photographs are taken in extreme close-up to show you every tiny detail. Any blemishes are greatly magnified and typically they aren’t noticeable to the naked eye.

Please look closely at the photographs as they form part of the description and please get in touch if you have any questions.
