Handpainted brooch/pendant
$185.00
This handpainted brooch/pendant depicts an elegant young woman. It is stamped 800, which is a common grade of silver in continental Europe. My best guess is that it is of Italian or Spanish origin, from the early 20th century c. 1920-30 and likely intended for the tourist market, much as Italian micro mosaic was a popular souvenir of the Italian grand tour in earlier centuries. The subject is stunning and reminds me of Tamara de Lempicka in her famous Self-Portrait in the Green Bugatti from 1929. It is signed but given its size it is impossible to make out the name of the artist.
It can be worn either as a brooch or as a pendant. The clasp for the brooch fitting appears to be missing the piece that comes down to hold the pin in place but it nonetheless holds well just like the old c - clasp this style of clasp replaced.
The antique box and other antique pieces are not included, but I hope to make some of these items available in the future.
