Hand-painted Antique Armorial Crest

This hand-painted crest is 'The Arms of the Ancient family of De Wills'. It was beautifully framed during the Victorian period at the Army and Navy Co-operative Society Ltd, in London. I suspect it probably already had some age when it was framed as there a little bit of damage to the ruled border around the work that obviously didn't happen when it was protected by glass. The gold interior of the frame is under the glass and the wooden frame itself is still in good condition and ready to hang. It is beautifully painted and the hand-lettered text explains the features of the coat of arms. There is a bit of foxing to the paper, consistent with its age, but for me it just adds to the charm.
