Victorian bone needle case

Needle cases were made in a range of materials during the Victorian period and this hand-carved bone one has a lot of charm. It is in good working order with the lid fitting securely. On close inspection I think there may be some small losses to the carving. Please look closely at the photographs as magnification has been used to show these areas in detail. The intricate carving and small size of the piece makes it a joy to handle. There is a small crack in the top piece but it doesn't interfere with its function as it opens and closes securely, and with ease. This would be a lovely addition to a collection of sewing implements or a great gift for someone who loves to sew or has an interest in bone carving.
