Victorian carved acorn-shaped needle and thread holder

$115.00

This is an unusual Victorian (c. 1860-1880) carved acorn-shaped needle and thread holder complete with spool and threads. It is made from Tagua nut from the South American ivory nut palm, more commonly known as ''vegetable Ivory''. The carved top unscrews to reveal a cylindrical spool, complete with needle and thread. It is in very good condition for its age, and unscrews and screws up well.
The interior is complete, which is not often the case. I will find it hard to part with this lovely acorn needle and thread holder. It is incredibly tactile. I also find using one nut to make another mildly amusing.

Please look closely at the photographs as they form part of the description and ask if you have any questions at all.
